Upcoming Projects -Bea Peterson

 

September -Pat Lintene, Colored Pencil one day seminar.  Bea Peterson will collect the fee.  Mitentes paper will be available for under $3.  Pencils will be ordered in advance for your purchase,  The fee is $35 for members and $40 for non-members.

 

October -  Allie Lockman. Wine holder.  $4.00 for members and $10.00 for non members.

 

November - 8 & 9 - Margo Clark.  2 day seminar. Sign up and make payment to Bea Peterson.

August 9 2008 Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 9:35  by President Lynda Goodman. The June minutes were approved as published, motion by Virginia Hughes, seconded by Allie Lockman.

Programs - All workshop/seminar business is conducted thru Bea Peterson, V.P. & Chairman of programs.

September - Pat Lintene, colored pencil one day seminar.  This workshop is filled.  There is a waiting list.  If you did not sign up for this seminar, contact Bea.  The cost is $35.00 + supplies for members and $40.00 + supplies for non members.

October - Allie Lockman will teach painting a design on a wine holder.

November - Margo Clark - 2 day seminar, 2 different patterns.  If you want a box to paint on, you must sign up for it so Jim can get these made. Cost of box is $22.50.  The seminar is $35.00 for members and $40.00 for non members.

Treasurer - as published in this newsletter, we have a lot of expenses coming, ie, chapter dues, Society of Decorative Painters dues, seminars in September & November, Xmas party.  Jan will start collecting dues in September .

Newsletter - Any changes or not receiving newsletter contact Jeanne Scotty.

Ways & Means - donations are needed.  We will not have a raffle in months that we have seminars.

Publicity - We have coverage in a lot of news releases.

Sunshine - no report

Historian - no report

Librarian - Allie has new tapes for rent  $2.00 per month.  We have a display in Homosassa Library for artist of the month.  If you wish to display a large painting, contact the library.  In December we will have a display in the Crystal River library.

Hospitality - Everyone needs to sign up for a month to be responsible for breakfast for our chapter meetings.

Foster Program - $300 is being collected to fill Xmas baskets for Foster Parents.  We do 10 baskets.  Any donations of calendars, tooth brushes, hair brushes, Xmas ties, small lotions or after shave would be appreciated.  In November we will find out which child we will sponsor at Xmas time.  Foster Program wanted donations for school supplies.  We donated $40.00 for supplies, which Allie shopped for and delivered to the program.

Old Business - our community project, Parade of Trees is sponsored by the Pilot Club. We are doing a “Beary Xmas” theme.  Everyone should paint at least 3 or more bears.  See Jan for bears.  We will decorate the tree on November 17,18 or 19.  The auction will be November 21 at St. Marks Greek Orthodox Church on Rt. 44 in Lecanto,.  Volunteers are needed.

Christmas Party - December 13 from noon to 4:00 pm.  It will be a Pot Luck.  More on sign up, cost, set up & clean up groups in a later newsletter.  September is last gift for our “Xmas Biggy”.

New Business - We welcome a new member, Bea Ward.

We will need a committee for new officers for 2009.

CHRISTMAS TREE PROJECT - Carol Tamms

 

We will have a 7 ˝ foot lighted tree.  By  now, everyone has probably received your bears to paint.  Everyone should paint at least 3.  The snowbirds will paint candy canes that will match our project.  We will need volunteers to trim the tree on November 17, 18, & 19.

 

CHRISTMAS PARTY

 

December 13th at St. Ann’ Episcopal Church.

 

This will be a pot luck and we will need volunteers to set up, clean up, and make a food list.  We will get names in November.  The activities will include:

Chinese Auction - A donated painted item or gift from member with the profit going to Manatee Haven Decorative Artists.  EVERYONE IS ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE.

Ornament/Gift Exchange - A $10 - $15 ornament or gift to exchange with another participating member.  EVERYONE IS ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE.

The Christmas Big Basket - All members that have been donating monthly to this endeavor is eligible to purchase tickets at the Christmas Party for the big drawing.  ONE WINNER TAKES ALL!  If you join in August or September and wish to purchase tickets at the Christmas party for the big one, you must donate a $20 gift before December.  See Lynda Goodman, Jan Bittner or Danni Jacques.
