Meetings are held the 2nd Saturday of each month at Jan Bittner’s studio, 8089 W. Pine Bluff St., Crystal River, FL
In lieu of a February meeting please read the Announcements for 2009. This year we have some changes and events that you need to know about:
Chapter Business:
Please conduct business transactions only at chapter meetings. Payment for dues or seminars may be mailed (Bea Peterson for Seminars and Workshops) or Jan Bittner for dues), BUT do not pay for anything outside of our meeting dates.
Christmas Basket Raffle:
1. Dani Jacques will collect the items for the Christmas Big Basket drawing on meeting days only. March through October.
2. To participate in 2009 the minimum is $20. You may donate one $20 gift, two $10 gifts, four $5 gifts or ten $2 gifts, etc. Any number of gifts that add up to $20.
3. Gifts should be wrapped and placed in a plastic shopping bag with your name and approximate value on a sheet of paper inside the bag with the gift. This will make it easier for Danni to keep track and also for her to get the gifts to her car.
Seminars:
1 .Bea Peterson is our Seminar chair and she will keep a sign up list for each seminar. Bea will receive the payment in advance of the seminar or in some cases 50% of the payment.
REMINDER: IF YOU SIGN-UP YOU ARE COMMITTED.
2. We have three seminars left for 2009. February, April & September so make your plans and mark your calendars now.
3. Bea is also responsible for all patterns and instructions. If you have any questions, please direct them to Bea.
Workshops: Workshop fees will be collected by Bea.
1. March - Pat Otto will teach a beautiful rose on the top of your surface. The fee is $4 for members and $10 for non-members.
2. May & June we need a volunteer teacher for a workshop.
3. July we have no meeting.
4. August - Pat Otto will teach the three shepherds on your surface. (this was in the Chinese Auction at our last Christmas party) the fee is $4 for members and $10 for non-members.
5. October & November are also open for volunteer teacher workshops.
Remember you do not have to have any experience to teach a workshop.
Just volunteer and the membership will follow along. It might be worth noting that our workshop teachers are paid $75.
Pilots Club Christmas Tree Project.
1. Our theme is being discussed and will be presented to the members before April so that we will be able to work on them and get things done before November.
2. This is a fundraiser for Brain Disorders through the Pilots Club of Citrus County.
3. We would love to have everyone to participate. All materials are provided.
Foster Program:
1. Allie Lockman will be our lead on this project. Manatee Haven collects $3 from each member for items to be purchased and placed in the baskets; you may donate more if you like. Allie will also take any donations for the baskets from the members to “fill out” the baskets.
2. You will be reminded about this project again in the fall.
3. Allie will take your donations or money at any meeting. She needs BASKETS.
Christmas Party 2009
1. We will be looking for volunteers for our 2009 Christmas party.
2. We need volunteers to run the Chinese Auction, Door Prizes, Table settings and centerpieces, etc. Please volunteer when the time comes. We had a great time last year and we look forward to another great party this year!
Communications:
1.PLEASE remember in 2009 to get changes to Jan Bittner, our membership chair, when change is needed to our records.
2.If you are not being included on internet newsletters or can’t open them contact Jeanne Scotty and she will mail you a copy.
3.We understand that all members cannot access the internet even if they have a computer, so please let Jeanne know and she will get a copy out to you.
February Seminar:
February brings another seminar by Sandy Aubuchon. Sandy is a true artist with talent to spare. She has studied in Russia and has beautiful stroke work to teach and she also teaches a loose form of painting that makes your project look so wonderful and different than we usually paint. If you haven’t signed up, please call Bea Peterson. Bea can give you all the information you need.
There will be no meeting in February. Maybe a few announcements and certainly a raffle. Bring your own lunch.
Projects
Allie Lockman is collecting $3.00 per member for the Christmas (YES) Christmas)
baskets for the Foster Children’s program. She will also collect any items you
have to put in the baskets. We are planning 10 baskets, so think in numbers of
10 when you shop.
We will start our Pilots club Christmas ornaments soon. Get ready to paint.
March will begin our Big Basket donations for the Christmas Party. This year DanI will collect these at the meetings only, and remember to label as to name as to name and approximate price. This year our giving guideline is for one of the following: One twenty ($20) gift, two Ten dollar ($10) gifts, four five dollar ($5) or what ever makes up twenty dollars total. BUY ON SALE.
Membership: - Jan Bittner
Our new address books are being prepared.
I need a little more information from a few of the members and it will be a go. Chapter members need to return your spiral holder on your address book. The chapter pays for these and if you can remember to return them to me it would help save the chapter a few bucks. Thanks. Jan
A special thanks to the great group who participated in the January seminar. I enjoyed teaching the reverse glass painting and hope all enjoyed painting it. Jan
Newsletter: My apologies for the late date of publishing the newsletter. My internet crashed and I was without it for 1 ½ weeks of calling the provider and anxiously waiting the UPS truck to deliver the new modem which each of 4 techs informed me that the last one did not follow through and actually place the order. I’m finally up and running. Sorry, Jeanne
